Weftovers - a Blog About Weaving

  • Why Buy Handmade?

Why buy handmade?  There are many reasons for supporting local producers and ultimately the reasons are related to quality, attention to detail and choice.  Local producers are fanatical when it comes to quality and the attention to detail that true quality requires.  We're your neighbors after all!  Local producers can make items in colors, patterns and scents that you won't find in big box stores.   Try and find an heirloom tomato at your local grocery store!  What you can find though, is that unique special soap you can't find anywhere else. The care and craftsmanship that goes into each and every locally produced item is your guarantee of quality.
  • Unexpected Outcomes in Weaving

Sometimes things don't go as initially intended.  This can be a result of the learning process (either good or not so good), working with a new material that you've not worked with before and is again all about learning about the material and how to work with it.  In this blog post, I tell my story of my first experience working with bamboo cotton (a blend of cotton and rayon of bamboo yarn).
